Paragliding Courses

Come fly with us in one of the most beautiful places in Northern California.  The experience starts with a 1 day introductory class or a tandem passenger flight. Either one is a great option to experience the magic of paragliding!

For those who want to become a fully certified pilot and fly on their own, the P-2 Course is the next stop.  This consists of 35 flights, over the course of 10 days. Gear is provided by AirXpansion for training.  After your training, you will need to purchase your own gear through AirXpansion to continue your training. Gear will consist of a wing, harness, reserve parachute, and radio. Prices for this gear range from $5,000-$6,000 for new gear, and $4,000-$5,000 for used.

AirXpansion offers lessons and tandems year round, but the conditions are best April through October.

One Day Introduction to Paragliding Lesson – $225

A one day introduction lesson is my recommendation for anyone who would like to get a feel for paragliding.  We go to Emigrant Lake Training Hill and take multiple flights to learn the basics. This day is designed to give you lots of airtime to see if paragliding is a fit for you. Lessons are 4 hours long and any money spent on a one day lesson can apply towards your P-2 course for up to one year.

What you will need:

  • long pants
  • sunglasses
  • lunch
  • athletic shoes
  • water
  • optional: swim shorts, sandals, and extra shirt for afterwards
  • optional: your favorite helmet

P-2 Certification – $1,600.00 (w/purchase of gear from Airxpansion)

This is the course you will learn to fly on your own. We go to 3 different training sites in the course of 10 days.

Here you will learn to launch, fly, and land a paraglider. We will cover meteorology, aerodynamics, thermalling techniques and much more.

With this certification you can begin your journey of paragliding, flying at many gliding sites across the country on your own or with instructor.

*Must be 18 years or older*

Come stay in beautiful Mount Shasta California!  Bring the family and explore the area.  Airxpansion will work with you to locate a place to stay while you complete your trainings.

AirXpansion offer 3 structures for learning:

Paraglide Bootcamp: 10 consecutive days.

Slow and Steady:  For the person who can't get away all at once and needs time to complete the course.  You can come and go as you wish over the course of 1 year.
