🪂 TIME TO FLY WOODRAT 🪂
Before you're cleared to fly Woodrat Mountain, you must be able to demonstrate the following skills and arrive fully prepared.
Required Skills
- Perform a cold forward launch in light to no wind conditions.
- Consistently get into the seat after launch.
- Make smooth left and right turns while maintaining heading control.
- Demonstrate understanding of standard aviation traffic patterns:
- Downwind
- Base
- Final
Site Requirements
- Read the Woodrat Site Regulations thoroughly.HERE
- Join the Rogue Valley Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association (RVHPA).HERE
- Do not pay for membership —your first year of club membership is free as an AirXpansion student.
- Complete and sign all required waivers.
Come Prepared With
- ✅ Charged radio
- ✅ Oversized stuff sack
- ✅ Water and snacks
- ✅ Weather-appropriate clothing
- ✅ Fully charged phone
- ✅ A weather report for the day, including:
- Wind direction and speed
- Expected high temperature
- Any weather concerns or hazards
Equipment Requirements
- Must have attended a Reserve Clinic.
- Must have a properly installed reserve parachute.
- Must have an installed foot bar, or a harness that allows you to easily get into the seat without a foot bar.
